Dr. Van Hook finishes his fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona under the direction of Dr. Andrew Weil, MD in February of 2016.
Integrative medicine is focused on healing, emphasizing the physician-patient relationship.
The main focus of integrative medicine is to find the least invasive, least harmful, and least expensive methods to help heal the patient by integrating traditional medicine with complementary approaches to care.
A few examples of complementary approaches include nutrition counseling, personalized exercise programs, supplements and herbal medicines, manual medicine, mind-body techniques (i.e. meditation, yoga, and tai chi), and exploring spirituality.
