How Much Time Does Dr. Van Hook Spend With His Patients?

Dr. Van Hook believes that understanding a geriatric patient (and patients of all ages) requires a comprehensive evaluation. He believes that spending time with a patient to gain that understanding is most important. By becoming one of his patients, you will obtain the personalized, comprehensive care you deserve. He expects that a full yearly physical, including wellness and prevention discussions, will take approximately 1 hour. Most regular follow-up visits will be between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on your needs. All other visits will be based on the need for the problem. Dr. Van Hook’s main objective is to make sure the patient’s needs are met.

Will Dr. Van Hook Help Coordinate My Specialist Appointments?

Dr. Van Hook believes that continued discussion with the specialists involved in your care is important and will make this a priority. Also, his staff can coordinate your appointment with a specialist and have all the information available to them when they see you.

Will Dr. Van Hook Take Care of Me if I Am Hospitalized?

Should you be hospitalized, Dr. Van Hook will work with the hospitalist groups to help coordinate your care. He has access to the hospital's electronic health systems to follow your case daily. He will serve as your advocate in the hospital. He will make social visits on occasion.

What Happens if I Get Sick Away From Tucson?

If it’s not a medical emergency, you should call Dr. Van Hook first. At that time, you and Dr. Van Hook will decide if anything further needs to be done, and Dr. Van Hook will help to coordinate your care. The majority of the time, problems may be solved with some simple recommendations.

Does Dr. Van Hook Make House Calls?

Yes, on a case-by-case basis within a limited radius from the office. If you require home visits, adjustments in fee will be made to cover travel time.

Who Covers for Dr. Van Hook While He is Away?

Dr. Van Hook has made arrangements with another local physician to cover his practice. Many times, he will be available by cell phone or email.

Do I Still Need Insurance Coverage?

Dr. Van Hook’s fee does not cover health insurance. We still need to make sure you have health insurance to cover your hospitalizations, medications, specialist visits, diagnostic tests, and any other healthcare services you may need.

What is the Fee for Dr. Van Hook's Care?

Instead of an insurance reimbursement, Dr. Van Hook will be charging a flat fee per year for services. Please call the office for details on annual cost. This can be paid annually, semi-annually, or quarterly. A monthly option is available with an extra service charge. The fee includes a full annual physical, as well as all other in-office visits throughout the year. There is no co-pay. If you require home visits, adjustments in fee will be made to cover travel time.

I Am Concerned With Rising Costs. Will Membership Fees Be Increased Every Year?

Dr. Van Hook is committed to limiting the increase of his fees for as long as possible.

Is the Fee for Dr. Van Hook's Care Tax Deductible?

The fee may be considered tax-deductible. We strongly advise you to consult your tax consultant to make sure.

Can I Pay the Annual Concierge Fee With My Flexible Spending or Health Savings Account?

The concierge wellness and prevention program may be considered a qualifying expense. Please verify with your employer’s plan administrator to make sure it’s allowable.

Joining Dr. Van Hook’s staff practice is a choice. Illness can be unpredictable. In those times, it’s important to have a personal physician who knows your health history and is available to take care of you. At the same time, it’s important to practice preventive medicine to maintain your health. Dr. Van Hook thinks it is important for patients to be seen on a regular basis for preventative medicine to help reduce the risk of possible medical problems that could arise in the future and to maintain quality of life.
